Aljazeera Sports, the forerunner to beIN Sports, supplied their Subscription TV system using Irdeto Smart Cards which gave access to their bouquet of Sports channels using any Irdeto compatible Satellite Receiver.

The problem for the for the Broadcast Rights Holders and Football Leagues and Associations however, was that using a Card Sharing Dreambox Satellite Receiver, a Satellite Dish and an Internet connection, TV Pirates were able to use a single Aljazeera Smart Card and Subscription to supply multiple users. This practice became known as Card Sharing and was widespread. Something had to be done and it was.

Following a brief interval during which ADMC was the English Premier League Broadcast Rights holder. With a name change (beIN Sports) became the new Broadcast Rights holder and they introduced new hardware (Satellite Receiver) and technology that required the inserted Smart Card to be paired with the Receiver and Card Sharing was no more, at least for beIN Sports.

The introduction of the new technology brought a brief respite, but it wasn't long before beIN Sports and many other Subscription TV services were facing an even bigger problem than illegal Card sharing - distribution of their TV channels over the Internet (IPTV).

All that we need to add the UEFA Euro Championship Finals to your existing subscription is your beIN Sports Card Number. The number is on the Smart Card that is in your Receiver. It is also printed on the sticker that is on the bottom of the Receiver and also available from within the beIN Sports on-screen menu.

I know that my beIN Card is up for renewal soon, but today, when I switched on, the beIN Sports system wasn't working, I thought that I had a month left to run. I have filled the form in and sent you my card details, please can you check the date that my subscription should expire ?

Hi Mitchell,

I know that you have asked Admin to check the expiry date of your beIN Card, but I am jumping in here (I hope that you don't mind). I have checked your beIN Card expiry date and your account is valid until May 26th. So, what is happening when you try to watch beIN Sports ? Is there an error message ?

Rather than wait for your reply, I am going to send a Refresh Signal through the satellite, just in case your beIN system is generating an E19.... error message. If it is, the Refresh Signal should wake your beIN Receiver up.

Mitchell, also, consider saving this page as a favourite in your Internet Browser so that in future, you can get quick, easy access to the following Whatsapp and Telegram Links, or alternatively, hit one, or the other now and save our contact number in your phone (0090 533 869 4372). Hi Mitchell,

Mmmm, E48... error indicates that there is a technical problem with the signal between the satellite dish and the beIN Receiver.

There are a few things that you can check yourself, but you may need to call a professional satellite engineer to fix the problem.

Assuming that you haven't purposely, or accidentally made any configuration changes to the beIN Receiver.

First, check that the coax cable and its connector are properly connected at the back of the beIN Sports Receiver. Next, check the coax cable run up to the satellite dish, but only if doing this doesn't involve any risk, or danger - hopefully, the satellite dish is fitted in a position that is easily accessible. Check for obvious breaks in the cable, or small splits and / or cracks - especially, if the cable is more than two years old and is exposed to the sun. Look at the satellite dish and LNB and see if there are any obvious problems with the cable connector onto the LNB. Check the LNB - if the beIN setup has been installed for a number of years - sometimes, the plastic cover on the LNB degrades in the sun / heat and may crack, or completely detach from the LNB. If this has happened, check to see whether there are any insects in the LNB. If there are, you may have discovered the cause of the problem. Having made these checks, if you haven't found the solution to the problem, it is probably time to call a professional satellite engineer.
